Banh mi, Vietnamese coffee, seafood and stir-fried veggies are our cup of tea.
-November 2023-
We had Banh Mi for our breakfast every morning at the different shops. All of them are fantastic without a doubt but this take-away shop went extra beyond so we can say this is the best so far.
There was one menu for vegetarians, which was eggs and veggies. We added chillis too. The outside of the bread was crunchy, and the inside was just soft. The fried egg was hot and tender, and lots of veggies in it. We loved it!
We needed to join the queue among locals. No tourists at all. That raised our expectations because it is always a sign that we have the right choice. No English or Japanese menu/speakers were available so again it's challenging to order what we wanted. Luckily a young local guy who could speak English helped us to order.
The professional use of espresso machines caught our eyes, then we sensed that he could provide good coffee. Our insight was right! The espresso was so thick yet sweet enough. We enjoyed every ship we took. Well, let's say we did it mindfully.
I reckon there is no homepage about this shop, so I put the link to the map instead. He must be around here.
The owner was so generous and friendly. He gave us little cakes that went with coffee when my partner told him that I was in a convenience store to grab something to eat.
We happened to join his video chat with his wife, which was a fun part!
There are little plastic chairs for customers that we took a seat. The type of chairs is standard here.
Look at these tools and machines he has. This tiny food motorbike is fully equipped. Amazing.
The taste is still vivid in my mouth... We had the bread as a dessert after our dinner. Yes, it was nighttime, but we could buy it because they open until 2 am.
The bread was fluffy, and the sweetness of cream was just right. "Milk cream bread" is the name I came up with. Some customers were at this bakery too so it's still popular after sunset.
This restaurant is located outside of the backpacker area and is full of locals. We saw just one couple who looked like tourists.
Great seafood with choices and great value too. We had grilled octopus and fish, and noodles with veggies. What blew our minds was not only the freshness of the seafood but also the sauce, herbs, and kimchi to eat all together. So yum!
Seafood and BBQ kits are in front of the restaurant to appeal to customers.
Yes! This is how they grill No doubts about the taste!
My partner's friend took us here for lunch to catch up. This restaurant provides Banh Nhot, a Vietnamese mini-savory pancake served with herbs, leafy greens, and sweet chili sauce—the famous dish in Vung Tao, Vietnam. The toppings we had were prawn, squid, and mushroom. Those were bite-size, so it is easy to eat.
The desserts we had were a few puddings. They were creamy and mild taste.
We were full after those cuisines though they were not greasy at all. Maybe because of the scouting weather affected our appetite...
This is our oasis in the middle of the city—cold drinks in an air-conditioned room. We just popped in when I was super thirsty one afternoon.
Inside this bar is very dark but still comfy and the lighting is just enough to see the menu. That is how bars should be, isn't it? Many options of craft beers for both regular menu and limited release. It was in the afternoon on a weekday when we visited, so it was quiet, but we enjoyed our chat with a customer from Australia who was into craft beer. We could talk in a calm atmosphere. However, it was packed on Friday night. The front is an outdoor space to take a seat.
