Little food shops in Kula Lumpur.

Updated: Jan 31

Recommendation of local restaurants and cafes in Kuala Lumpur.

-October 2023-

Something about "local" is a keyword for us because we want to have authentic cuisine.

On every little street, there are some discoveries of not only tastes but also people to interact with. Even if there is no mutual language, gestures and recently Google Translator always helps. I assume that local meals are the best way to know about the culture, climate, and their lifestyle.

Where to find a local area?

It is easy. Go to the area where nothing appears in the travel guidebooks, then follow your instinct to wander around. There are always paths and narrow streets behind the main road, so you can go for it. If you see food shops filled with local people, that is a sign to go for it! There would be no exceptions that you would be disappointed with.

( However, if it is nighttime or looks unsafe, do not enter to protect yourself. )

Let's take a look at those 4 places below.

Do you want to kick off your day with good coffee and tasty food in a cool interior? Then this cafe is the answer. There is a variety kind of foods such as breakfast, pasta, main, cakes etc...

We had a latte and classic toast and egg on toast for breakfast. The food is so yum and also very looks pretty. (sorry no photos of them)

Shop staff are so friendly and provide good services.

The solid stone-looking counter welcomes you. The interior style is modern and minimal with elegance. There is half outside behind with a glass roof and also the first floor.

Coffee beans options are available as well as decaf. If you are unsure what to choose, ask the staff they will help you.

The best Portuguese Tart is available here. We didn't notice this was a cafe though we passed by many times. There is a showcase at the entrance having the tart and other patisseries. I reckon they bake at the shop.

The showcase of pastries. All looks great.

The tart with coffee is the best combo to have. Another one we tried was a cake with mashed sweet beans. It was delicious too. The coffee has already sugar in it so bit sweet.

Excellent dumpling and spicy Chinese food restaurant. There is a range of dumplings and veggie stir-fry for us, so it is no issue for vegetarians or pescatarian.

There are round-shaped tables to gather around so it is also a good place to catch up with friends and families. ( Like us! )

4: Yuit Sam Him Vegetarian restaurant.

This restaurant is absolutely a paradise for vegetarians!! Stress-free to select food to eat because 100% vegetables! Yippeee!

Look at the picture below instead. Heaps of mushrooms!!! Those are converted to be mocked meat too I reckon. The earthy fragrance was filled in the whole space. Tofu is also another ingredient too.

This restaurant is so closed to Retran Kar long which I mentioned above. Now you see this area is so nice.
